My name is Bryan Murphy (aka irq13). I’m a Senior Information Security Analyst for the DoD (Department of Defense).
I am a geek by choice and am fueled by an over all love, dedication and enthusiasm for all things tech (and copious amounts of caffeine). More specifically things related to security and counter security. Taking things apart to see how they tick, make them better or (intentionally) break them.
I code, script, hack, slice, dice and make julienne potatoes.
I am a CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), GCIH (GIAC Certified Incident Handler), MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) and am a member of ISSA (Information Systems Security Association) and CSI (Computer Security Institute). But these are all just strings of letters that appear after my name in emails. A certification or degree is no substitute for real world, hands on experience paired with a genuine enthusiasm for the technology.
My computing platforms of choice are Linux on my servers and OS X on my workstations. My primary puter is a black MacBook. I am a true Linux geek and lover of and contributor to open source.
In my free time I read technology books (about 3 – 4 per month), exercise religiously, play guitar and am training Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to do competitive mixed martial arts.
